2016 Volkwagen Golf GTI Autobahn

The Volkwagen Golf GTI has been a favorite of enthusiasts since its launch in  1974.  It has always offered an almost perfect combination of sportiness with practicality.  However the recent 5th and 6th generations started drifiting away from the sportiness.  That all changed with the current 7th generation. It manages to increase both luxury and sportiness at the same time.  The current Golf even shares its platform and many additional components, including engines, with the Audi A3.

The Golf GTI is the version of the Golf targeted at the driving enthusiasts and offers features typically found only on far more expensive cars, like a DSG automatic and torque vectoring electronic limited slip differential.  it even offers a lap timer.  The 2.0 liter turbocharged engine offers up to 220 hp and 258 lb ft of torque.  With the DSG 6 speed automatic the GTI can hit 0 to 60 in 5.6 seconds.  Though U.S. cars are governed to 126 mph, ungoverned European versions, with the same drivetrain do 155 mph.  To support the increased horsepower over the standard Golf, the suspension and brakes are also upgraded.  In fact, even the rear brakes are vented.  This car gives the driving enthusiast an enjoyable driving experience, while still maintaining the 4 door hatchback practicality.

Our Golf GTI is an Autbahn Edition with the Performance and Lighting packages.  It its Night Blue Metallic with a Titan Black Leather interior.  The black leather seats, steering wheel, and shift boot also have red stitching to match the red brake calipers and nose stripe.  The Autobahn Edition includes Navigation, including VWs CarPlay telematics, dual zone climate control, panoramic moonroof and a Fender audio system.  The Performance Package adds the electronic limited slip and boosts the engines horsepower from 210 to 220.  Finally, the lighting package adds adaptive bi-xenon headlights.
