1998 BMW 328ia

The BMW 3 Series defined the term sports sedan.  It had good looks inside and out, good power, good fuel economy, and exceptional ride and handling. The engine also ran incredibly smooth because it was an inline 6.  Aspects of it were copied by many others, notably the Honda Accord styling.  However, it was and remains to this day, the benchmark for a sports sedan.

Ours was an Avus Blue 328ia (automatic 328i) with a Light Gray leather and Myrtle wood interior.  It was our first automatic since our 1987 Honda Accord and our first German car.  The ride and handling were the best of any sedan we have owned.
